Echoes of Silver Salt
2023, A live performance which is an audiovisual extension of the a set of gelatin silver prints.
“Echoes of Silver Salt” is live audiovisual performance. It is an extension of my previous artwork “Deposits” and collaborate with sound artist Sou. It was an audiovisual extension of the a set of gelatin silver prints. Our main goal was to sonify the world under each image an awaken the unseen states within the silver grains through auditory stimulation. The images trigger two oscillators and a flashback of images and changes the playback speed of the audio samples.
“Deposits” is an art project spanning across 48 days and nights, where silver grains are suspended in temperature, touch, and pH, creating a sufficiently discreet microcosmic space.
“Echoes of Silver Salt” extends the image of “Deposits” through data visualization, generating sounds from extremely subtle visual noise, reproducing fantasies of impurity and purity, insurrection and resonance. Sound serves as evidence of perception, revealing all traces of the hidden and buried microcosm, while also provoking the vain attempt to recall all the momentary dwelling memories.
